Experience downtown La Crosse like never before
Join us on Sunday, September 3rd for La Crosse’s first-ever Open Streets event. Presented by the Wisconsin Bike Fed and Explore La Crosse, with support from Downtown Mainstreet, Inc., the City of La Crosse, and the La Crosse City Vision Foundation.
Imagine a day without car traffic. Open Streets events create car-free spaces where people and families and bike, walk, dance, play, and socialize. At the same time, local neighborhood businesses and vendors can engage the community in fresh, new ways.
You’ll experience an exciting, one-mile stretch of downtown La Crosse like never before. Yoga, dance, art, and other activities will be there for people and families to enjoy in a closed-off area between Cameron Park and Burns Park.
Open Streets is a worldwide movement modeled after Ciclovia, which began in Bogota, Columbia. The idea focuses on minimizing the use of cars and temporarily promoting biking, walking and active living in the communal spaces that are otherwise dominated or made unsafe or unhealthy by moving and parked cars.
